Football Stars of Tomorrow Episode One Screens this week

The debut of FSOT will see special features on the McDonalds Schools Launch, the Johnny Warren Camp, the 2008 Futsal U12 Boys Final, the TeleChoice Premier League Media Launch, a nice story on an Afghan teenager playing the round ball game plus loads more.
Known for being aimed at showcasing grassroots football and highlighting the link between club football and the elite level, 2008 has been seen as no different with a number of new segments being launched for the first time.
Aside from the regular segments which include the Tip-Top coaching tips with Football NSW?s Higher Performance head honcho Paul Bentvelzen, Goal of the Week, TeleChoice Premier League highlights, Stars of Tomorrow come new segments such as the Referee Rulz and the Crossbar Challenge.
FSOT has been designed to appeal to a wide range of viewers, although primarily a show targeted at children between the ages of 8 and 16, the show has also proven very popular with adults due to the educational aspects and the TeleChoice Premier League highlights.
2007 was a magnificent year for FSOT as Fox Sports screened 31 episodes, while SBS screened 38 episodes with total viewing numbers of almost two million.
EPISODE 1 RUN DOWN:
** JAWED QASIMI – Blacktown U13 representative player is our first player-profile for 2008 and what a story he has to tell, fleeing the war and turmoil of Afghanistan to live his dream. We go behind the scenes to find out what his journey has been like – a story which will resonate with all our viewers.
** PAUL BENTVELZEN – Football NSW High Performance manager – returns for the third year with his incisive and informative coaching segments for all the football family. Coaches, players, officials, parents and fans will benefit from his easy to learn skills segments.
** JOHNNY WARREN CAMP – FSOT meets some of the special players selected in the recent JW Camp at Football NSW headquarters. Will their be a future Socceroo amongst this talented crop?
** NSW U12 BOYS FUTSAL FINAL – A captivating battle of the highest order from this thrilling Futsal final between the MASCOT VIPERS and SYDNEY CITY EAGLES
** FOOTBALL RULZ – A new and informative segment about the laws of the game. Telechoice Premier League referee KRIS GRIFFITH JONES will be with us every week to explain what’s right and what’s wrong on the football field
** McDONALDS SCHOOLS LAUNCH – Global company and on-going football supporter – McDonalds – has teamed with Football NSW to help in the development of the game within the schools system. We join Ronald McDonald at the launch in St Mary’s Sydney
** TELECHOICE PREMIER LEAGUE LAUNCH: FSOT was their when the new-look 12-team Telechoice Premier League was launched earlier this year and we catch up with the likes of Central Coast Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna and Olyroo captain Mark Milligan
** TELECHOICE PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCH-OF-THE-ROUND – Our first big game from the 2008 season brings together two of the famous clubs in NSW enjoying contrasting fortunes as second-placed Sutherland Sharks host Marconi Stallions – who are languishing in unfamiliar territory at the bottom of the Premier League
