The 18-year-old, in his first season in the Telechoice Premier League, has made the transition from promising youth player to consistent performer in first grade with consummate ease following a series of dominating displays in the heart of defence for the Blues.
Originally from Orange, Sherlock first caught the eye of representative scouts whilst playing for NSW Country at the age of 14 and was promptly offered a trial with the New South Wales Institute of Sport.
After being selected, he made his way to Sydney where he was billeted with a family at Bossley Park, where he still resides.
After two successful years with NSWIS, he opted to call Marconi Stadium home in 2007 and captained the star-studded Stallions Under 20s to the premiership.
Rather than rest on his laurels he felt a move to Sydney Olympic under the astute coaching of Milan Blagojevic would be beneficial for his footballing development and the country boy is loving every minute at Belmore Stadium.
?I have been happy with my performances and Milan has given me plenty of positive feedback,? he said.
?Playing alongside guys like Mirko Jurilj and Milorad Simonovic has been fantastic, they have a wealth of experience and I am learning every time I am out on the pitch with them.?
When quizzed about Olympic?s inconsistent Telechoice Premier League campaign after ten rounds, Sherlock delivered an honest answer.
?It isn?t time for panic stations, we are playing well but not always coming off with the three points, but that?s football,? he said.
?The players we have at the club are all focused on the same goal ? to win trophies.
?Premierships aren?t won in May anyway, the boys aren?t concerned.?
Sherlock has mapped out some lofty ambitions in his quest to become a professional footballer but is focused on two primary goals in 2008 ? doing well in his HSC and winning a premiership with the Blues.
?I am not one to overly think about my future, I just try and play to the best of my ability each week,? he said.
?My aim at the moment is to enjoy my football and absorb everything that comes my way.
?If I can do that everything else will take care of itself.?
