Football United was established two years ago with a vision to assist recently arrived humanitarian refugee youth and families in their transition into Australian society.
During that time, Program Director of Football United, Ms Anne Bunde-Birouste, has established partnerships with councils, migrant resource centres, football clubs and associations, resulting in over 300 young people and their families having been introduced to the program. Youngsters who have participated are now registered with clubs, playing representative football or competing as teams in local futsal competitions.
The programs which the club will help to implement are designed to improve the quality of coaching for participants and to enhance their motivation.
As part of the agreement with Football United, Sydney FC the donate equipment, assist in the implementation of coaching programs, appoint high profile players as ambassadors for the program and provide invitations to participants and their families to Hyundai A-League matches at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Sydney FC is proud to help Football United realise it?s ambition to improve the lives of disadvantaged and dislocated young people and their families who have come to Australia seeking opportunities to belong and begin their new lives.
