However, the Tigers were not his first club. Prior to arriving at the Lambert Park den in Leichhardt, he played a season for Sydney Olympic in their under-20 team.
Bankstown City preceded Sydney Olympic and before that he was a Marconi Stallions junior.
So for Ryan ? now at his fourth club ? what does the future hold?
?I have a secured spot here at A.P.I.A. for next season but the under-20s in the A-League is definitely something I can aspire to,? he said.
?I trained with the Central Coast Mariners a couple of times, but I haven?t really heard anything yet from them.?
As a talented midfielder Simon Ryan is also very keen to show his versatility. Furthermore, he has an amazing desire to keep on learning in this game.
?I prefer anywhere in the midfield really,? he said. ?Anywhere I can throw myself about, make a few tackles and get forward if I need to. ?I can play in a sitting role or an attacking role, but anywhere really will be fine.
While Ryan is ambitious and certainly hopes to one day make it into the A-League, he is very grateful for the opportunities given to him by the Tigers.
He was particularly praiseworthy of the coaching and management staff at A.P.I.A. ? a club that has a proud history of showcasing young talent.
?I have been very happy with A.P.I.A. and the opportunities they have given me this year,? he said. ?Training is fairly intense which is good and being around all the first grade boys is good.
?We have a team of fairly experienced players, so I am just learning and learning. Hopefully, it will push us to A-League next season.
?John Romeo, our coach, is excellent as he puts on a good training session and the boys like it.
?Mark [Brady] the assistant coach is also great and he obviously does a good job in the under-20s as well.
?All the management is superb here and they assist us and are always here every training session.?
