West was rushed to Sutherland Hospital following the match and has since been transferred to St George Public Hospital. He was initially listed as critical but has now been transferred to the HDU section of the Hospital.
West will be monitored closely in the next 10-14 days in hospital and the Wollongong Football Club and our supporters are wishing Michael a speedy recovery.
For West it is a frustrating final few months of football after recently returning from a leg injury suffered after a tackle that saw the offending player red carded.
Wollongong FC Club spokesperson Andrew Byron said “fans of the club are welcome to send their well wishes via the shoutbox in the club website or can email/send their well wishes via the club office and all well wishes will be forwarded directly to Michael”. “It is hoped that Michael gets well quick and back on his feet soon to join in the support of the team alongside the thousands of fans that will backing the team during the final series coming up over the next few weeks”.
Wollongong FC will now meet Sydney Olympic in the Preliminary Semi Final at a time and venue to be announced shortly.
To send your well wishes you can email – susan@wolves.com.au or fax 4229 3282 or you can contact the club by phone on 4226 3988.
