Player Interview with NWS Koalas Rising Star Danielle Calvi

Danni

Danielle Calvi has been a proud Koalas girl since joining the club to play in the Under 14?s. Danielle has scored plenty of goals for The Koalas and shown the talent to play well above her age as she?s worked her way up the ladder.
This season Danielle has been something of a Super Sub; that being proven in the last two weeks when she?s come on to score. Marconi Stallions were her first victims in the last round of the competition and then Danielle slotted away what The Koalas thought was the winner, deep in extra time, in last Sunday?s Major Semi Final with Macarthur Rams.
Danielle is in fine form at the business end of the season. Koalas Coach Claude De Francesco is sure to make good use of his rising star as the girls from the North West battle for premiership honours in the coming weeks.
Occupation: Tennis coach with Active Power Tennis
Representative honours: Played for Metro North West whilst at school but tennis has been the more dominant sport for me as I?ve grown up.
Which junior clubs did you play for? : I was with Gladesville RSL from the Under 6?s to Under 9?s. I coupled football with tennis for some time after that before joining NWS Koalas to play reps in the Under 14?s. I?ve been with Koalas ever since.
Why football? : I enjoy it! My Dad?s been involved in the game for many years so it?s like I was born into the game.
Who is your most respected opponent? : I respect all my opponents. I love a challenge!
If you could sign any player in world football to play for NWS Koalas who would it be? : Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United
If you had to sing a song at karaoke, what would it be? : An ABBA song, just to make it fun.
Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with? : My little sister because she makes me laugh!
Interests outside of football? : Tennis. Spending time with my friends and family.
Your favourite meal before a game? : Mum?s cooking!!!
What?s your favourite football memory? : There was a goal I scored against Sydney University a couple of seasons ago. The ball was centred to me. I flicked it over the head of my marking defender, raced through to take the ball on the full before then flicking it over the keeper?s head to score. It was one of those goals where everything came together at once.
The team to beat in the Arrive Alive NSW Women?s Premier League? : Macarthur Rams of course.
