Johs Amundsen Perpetual Cup in Merimbula

It is my pleasure, on behalf of the Merimbula Grasshoppers, to invite your Club or Association to participate in the Easter 2009 competition.
This tournament has been running successfully for 28 years and after 22 years in Bega returned to Merimbula, where it originally commenced in 1981. Our playing days traditionally are Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday regardless of the date. Easter in 2009 will be from the 11th to 14th of April.
Some years ago Johnny Warren had kindly agreed to accept the Patronage of this tournament.
Alas we and Football generally miss him very much.
Our venue, the Berrambool Sporting Complex facilities are of good standard and the Club will be operating a canteen to cater for the daily needs of all participants including pre-ordered lunches for teams. The team entry fee presently is $250 to assist us with the cost of the badges, pennants and referees fees. Each team will be given a match ball to keep.
With the advent and interest of girls Football, we have included a section to cater for U/12, U/13 or U/15 girls, depending on the number of teams and interest shown by applicants.
The boys competition used to be in past years for U/13 only. We found that the interest and participation by stronger U/12 teams proved a very acceptable addition.
Inquiries required the addition of an U/14 segment for ’08. To have a viable competition in this age group we did require a minimum of 4 teams. A decision for ’09 re this age group will be made when teams are prepared to confirm their participation.
If you like junior Football ? this is the best. We can guarantee 5 to 6 games for the weekend. This number of games we found, is adequate to rattle even the fittest youngsters.
Accommodation is plentiful in our town and area. But the cheaper or more reasonable one is usually in high demand and is quickly taken up. It is important that you secure a booking as soon as possible.
Your team registration should include the sanction / approval from your club, association, Branch and State. Please don?t forget to include your entr?e fee. Endorse cheques to ?Merimbula Grasshoppers Easter Account?.
The Berrambool Sporting Complex is operated by a committee, which is a sub-committee to the Bega Valley Shire Council and as such is covered by the Council?s Public Risk Insurance. The presence of a qualified Sports Trainer cannot be guaranteed but we do have the St. John?s Ambulance in attendance.
If you have any questions ? the answer is as close as your telephone or an e-mail.
