Official Opening – Indoor Sports Hall for Endeavour Sports HS

Friday the 7th November 2008 saw the official opening of the new Indoor Sport Hall at Endeavour Sports High School, Caringbah in front of year 8 students and special guests.
The ceremony was chaired by Endeavour Sports High School, Captains, Sheree Moore and Timothy Smart. It all started with a customary Welcome to Country by Aboriginal students JC Webb and TJ Kelly, National anthem of Australia sung by Sheree Moore and a Welcome address from the School Principal Mrs Sue Cran.
In her address Mrs Cran acknowledged the support of both the Federal and State Governments in funding this special learning space. Mrs Cran also acknowledged the attendance of special guests Hon Mr Ian West MLC, Mr Lee Evans School P&C, Hon Mr. Scott Morrison Federal Member for Cook, Hon Mr. Malcolm Kerr MP Member for Cronulla, DET regional Staff and representatives of the construction company Brisland Pty Ltd and Community groups such as Mr Jonathan Simnett President, Sutherland Shire Futsal Association Incorporated.
Mrs Cran also indicated that the State has committed $10M to Sports High Schools in the coming years to address facility issues across the region.
After a introduction by Mr David Davids ESHS Director of Sport and a message from the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relaitions and Minister for Social Inclusion Mrs. Julie Guillard the new gym was officially opened by Mr. Ian West MLC with the plaque unvailed. The School Captains thanked Mr. West for this opportunity. One student said “Its not just a gym its a new classroom”.
Special guests and students then witnessed Mrs Cran cut the red ribbon making it official. Guests saw from ESHS Students displays of Netball, Basketball, Trampolining and Futsal.
This official opening confirms the commitment of the School to the Sport of Futsal. It also confirms the commitment of the Futsal Association to the life of the School. Jonathan Simnett has also been proposed to membership of the School P & C.
