Australia Day 2009 honours for Football trio
Point Piper resident and former Football NSW President and Life Member Tom Anthony Doumanis received his (OAM) for his service to football in NSW through executive roles with a range of sporting clubs and organisations and to the community.
Caringbah local Donald Duncan McNeice was recognised for his service to football as an administrator, coach and referee.
While finally, current Socceroos and Fulham star goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was given his special honour for service to football, particularly as an international representative player and to the community. The 36-year-old shotstopper has played for the likes of the Blacktown City Demons, Marconi Stallions, Dynamo Dresden, Kaiserslautern, Bradford City, Middlesbrough before moving onto Fulham in 2008.
The Order of Australia is an order of chivalry established by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia on the 14th February 1975 for the purpose of according recognition to Australian citizens and the other persons for achievement or for meritorious service.
