The win’s real significance was the Demons’ reliance on youngsters through the absence of senior players carrying injuries from the previous weekend’s 3-2 victory over Super League club Granville Rage.
Gavin Forbes (2), Joel Chianese and Nick Sama were Saturday night’s scorers.
The Demons will now play Bonnyrigg White Eagles this Saturday at 7pm for the Jack Cirjanic Trophy, named after a Bonnyrigg stalwart.
Blacktown won last year’s inaugural trophy in a penalty shootout. All proceeds from the event will go to charity and children will be admitted free.
