Tiger Turf Cup Round 3 postponed matches as Manly and Wollongong CFC march on
Spirit FC were set to play Sydney Olympic at Christie Park while Central Coast Lightning were facing Sydney Tigers at Pluim Park to conclude round 3 of the Tiger Turf Cup however poor weather has forced a cancellation of both of these matches.
Both matches will be replayed shortly with a time and date set to be announced by Football NSW shortly.
On Tuesday 19th May, TeleChoice Premier League cellar dwellers Wollongong Community FC defeated State League 1 outfit Sydney Wanderers 5-0 at Hajduk Stadium thanks to two goals from Corey Gamiero, and strikes from Kieran Deane, Illija Prenzoski and an own goal by the Wanderers.
While at Cromer Park, TeleChoice Premier League side Manly United defeated Gladesville Hornsby Association side Pacific Hills Dural 3-0.
Goals from Craig Midgley, Andrew Mailer and Andrew Hayward all but assured Manly United a spot into round 4 of the Tiger Turf Cup.
Manly?s experienced coach Phil Moss was positive speaking on his side?s victory after the Cup match against Pacific Dural.
?As with everything put in front of us we are taking the Tiger Turf Cup very seriously.
?Pacific Hills Dural came to Cromer Park and had a real good go and it looked rather interesting as the first half wore on.
?However after Craig (Midgley) struck the first goal of the match we took full control.
?Brad Groves? red card threw us off a bit but we managed to get a few more goals and secured the win.?
Moss gave some of his injured stars a well earned start just in time for the second half of the TeleChoice Premier League season.
?Guys like Craig Midgley, Robbie Cattanach and Spencer Prior who just returned from the U.K. were given much needed game time and I was happy they passed it with flying colours,? Moss stated to Football NSW.
The draw for round 4 of the Tiger Turf Cup will also be announced shortly to all clubs and the media so stay tuned for more updates.
