Sydney United snap up former Wellington Phoenix defender Karl Dodd

The 28-year-old signed with the Wellington Phoenix in 2007 and played thirty six matches with the A-League side. The Kiwi club decided not to renew the Queensland born defender?s contract but was given some glowing final words by the club?s CEO Tony Pignata.
?Karl?s been an integral member of the Phoenix.
?It?s disappointing that we?re parting company but we wish him all the best for the future.?
Dodd spent close to three seasons abroad firstly in 2006 where he was snapped up by Romanian First Division side Universitatea Craiova before playing twenty three times with Scottish Premier League outfit Falkirk in 2007.
This is not the first time Dodd has played for a NSW club as he was part of the Sutherland Sharks in 2001 before he went off to play in the Queensland Premier League the following year with Gold Coast City.
