Recommendations from Steve O’Connor and Tony Popovic (Sydney FC coaching staff) was all Milicic needed to call on Munro to put on the famous red jersey of Sydney United this year.

The vice-captain of the premiership-winning Sydney FC youth team joined the Reds with an impressive resume, and he hasn’t let anybody down.

The midfielder has been arguably one of United’s best in 2009, having no trouble leaving his mark on a team already oozing with quality footballers.
“He is one of the first players I put on the team sheet each week,” Milicic said.
“I am fortunate to have him at my club because I can’t understand how he hasn’t been picked up already by an A-League team.’
Munro proved his dedication to both football and to Sydney United earlier this year after flying to North Queensland to trial with the Fury.
Despite the disappointment of coming away empty-handed, Munro was on the plane back to Sydney the next day, taking the field for United against Sutherland.
”He is such a professional and he is always one of the first guys to training,” Milicic said.
”I would like to think he would come back to the club next year. ”But he is too good a player to play in the Premier League two years in a row.”
However, this season has been far from a waste of time for the former AIS player.
”I’m playing with a bunch of boys I look up to and who have taken me under their wing,” Munro said.
”Ante was the main reason I came here because he really knows his stuff and he has the knowledge of how to get to the next level.”
Munro is likely to captain Sydney FC in the national youth league this year, but before he trades his red jersey for the sky blue of FC, there is one thing on his mind.
”We want to win the premiership.”
