Matthew Mayora crowned 2009 Andreas Golden Boot winner

The former Bonnyrigg White Eagles youth product was snapped up by Sydney Olympic in 2008 and has since played a prominent role in the Blues? two TeleChoice Premier League campaigns.
Mayora stated to Football NSW his delight upon finishing as the league?s most lethal marksman but stated that it all came down to a team effort in assisting him with these goals.
?It feels great to be the top goal scorer in the TeleChoice Premier League, that last goal was very emotional for me against the Stallions on Sunday.
?It was a team effort all up though, I had the assistance of a number of my team-mates in getting me towards the top of the charts.
?Unfortunately it wasn?t to be this year in making the finals series but I know the club will be pushing hard for a Premiership finish in 2010.?
Mayora?s aspirations have been to be part of the A-League and had held recent trials with the Central Coast Mariners but nothing eventuated from them however the dream of playing professional football still burns bright as overseas has also beckoned for the Olympic star.
With Mayora finishing first, a host of other rival players ended up a couple of goals shy off the top scorer for 2009.
West Sydney Berries? Dimitri Zakilas and Sutherland Sharks? Brad Boardman finished second with 12 goals while Sutherland Sharks? Panny Nikas, Sydney United?s Luka Glavas, Bankstown City Lions? Hussein Salameh and last season?s Andreas Golden Boot winner Robbie Younis from the Sydney Tigers all ended up with 11 goals.
