Prospect United v Camden Tigers
Camden Tigers have sealed an impressive 3-1 win against Prospect United on Saturday afternoon at William Lawson Reserve.
The win sees Camden in line for the all important top spot which has now turned into a three way battle between Camden, Gladesville and Prospect.
In what has been the best game of the year by far, both sides came out firing, and it was the home-side that nearly opened scoring within two minutes into the game. A. Maxwell struck a shot inside the 18-yard box a half volley with his chance sailing over the crossbar.
Both teams were in control in what was a display of sensational passing and attacking football, game between both sides. Many battles including Mackechnie upfront for the away side against inform Prospect defender J. Lewis was giving this contest the competitive edge.
On 7? minutes B. Green for Camden struck a brilliant shot from the right side but an equally brilliant save by O. Rogers kept the scores even.
Camden was dominating the right-flank with all their attacking flare coming from B. Green. Prospect was holding the ball well in the midfield even under the pressure put on by the Camden midfield.
McLeay and Landrelli were again dangerous upfront for the home-side, with Camden needing to work hard in defence at all times.
On 19? minutes a brilliant free-kick from L. Isbister from 30-metres out struck the crossbar – a sensational effort with Camden lucky to escape this time.
Maxwell, Miralles brilliant for the home side in the midfield, D. Mugridge and T. Spain were outstanding for the away side, a display of brilliant football.
A 34? minute corner resulted in a scramble in the box with L. Isbister on the spot to slide the ball past Camden Goal Keeper M. Johnston to give the home side the all important lead.
Landrelli could have made it 2-0 a minute later when his free-kick attempt struck the right goal post, great effort so close to giving the home side are healthy lead at the break.
M. Hilt, just after the break, from 30-metres out struck a sensational shot with his effort just inches over the crossbar.
Camden came out with high intensity and with the away side behind by one goal Prospect were the busiest in defence early in the second half.
On 60? minutes Camden scored a sensational goal after a great thorough ball with his head allowed G. Mackechnie to slot away the equaliser nicely placing the bal past O. Rogers.
Camden was playing with confidence and the game was too close to call with half an hour remaining.
On 62? minutes a left side cross from G. Nortan putting a pin point cross for a brilliant volley by Mackechnie to give the away side a 2-1 lead.
J. Cook was dangerous and he showcased some brilliant skill down the side with momentum on Camden?s side.
Prospect were pushing up with numbers in the last 15? minutes however Camden was using the counter attack technique to try and finish the game right off.
Prospect didn?t give up and kept putting together some quality plays with A. Maxwell busy with the two enforcers in Landrelli and McLeay but frustration was kicking in for the home side.
J. Cook made it 3-1 in the 80? minute off a brilliant corner, a sensational header near post gave the away side breathing space and they went on to declare one of the most impressive performances in 2009.

Review of Round Twenty One
Bathurst 75 has continued their good form at Alec Lamberton Field with a comfortable 2-0 win against Gazy Lansvale. J. Christie was on the mark again with a goal in the 35? minute. Bathurst all but finished the game in the 73? minute when J. Portegies sealed the 2-0 win and three crucial points.
Penang FC has finally picked up their first win in 2009, with a sensational 4-1 drumming against struggling White City. E. Davilla, S. Jones, J. Keens and K. Gallagher were all on the score sheet in a game which finally brought a good vibe in the Penang Club. The win will help Tony Gallagher regain his side?s confidence for a good campaign for 2010.
Hurstville continue to hold their spot in the top five with a 1-0 win against Luddenham united at Belmore Sports Ground. A goal by S. Soulios in the 63? minute was the decider which gave Hurstville the all important three points which could seal their finals spot in 2009.
Colo Colo produced an upset in great fashion with a 4-0 drumming against Roosters FC, the home-side are in range to reach the finals and with a win this afternoon they are close to reaching a spot. Roosters FC have suffered yet another loss and are now out of contention for that top spot. The home side needed a spark and it came with a double from E. Navarrete, B. Daewood and I. Peti also added to the onslaught which ended in a sensational performance from the home side.
Gladesville has continued their rally for top spot with a 3-0 win against Sydney Cedars, A. Gatt was back on the score sheet among the other scorers included a double from Tom Nastoulis. Gladesville have regained form and with only one round left Gladesville are in the hunt for the top spot but they also need results to go there way come next weekend.
Hakoah have ruined Hawkesbury?s chances in their bid to play finals football with a 3-1 win at E.S Marks Field. J. Mundell produced a double, along with A. Joseph?s goal in the 77? minute which sealed the upset.
