Futsal: Vipers sting too much for depleted Eagles

The Mascot Vipers stepped up the pressure on the leading teams of the competition with a commanding 6-3 victory over a depleted Sydney City side at Bankstown Stadium.
Sydney City took an early lead when Kahlee Doyle cleverly got between two defenders and clipped the ball past the advancing keeper.
Mascot drew level when Elyce Goss rolled the ball from the sideline to Amanda Cergovski who cut inside onto her left foot and with the defence allowing her too much space rifled a long range shot low into the corner of net.
Tani Rosekelley did well to tip the ball away for a corner after a flying run from the deep from Elyce Goss.
The Eagles counter attacked quickly and with the Vipers players committed forward Amanda Bowering ventured up court from her defensive role and cracked the ball home to make it 2-1.
The Eagles nearly extended their lead when Amanda Bowering fired a long range shot that struck the bar and went over.
As the half wore on Mascot began to get the upper hand as Alana Macey fired a shot just wide and Elyce Goss thumped a shot that struck the bottom of the left post.
Four minutes before half time the Vipers took the lead when Elyce Goss dispossessed an Eagles player mid court passed across goal to Hayley Buckingham who confidently slipped the ball past the keeper.
In the last minute before half time the Vipers nearly made it three when Hayley Buckingham passed the ball to Elyce Goss who cracked her shot against the outside of the post and away to safety.
Into the second half and Tani Rosekelley made one great block to deny the Vipers then another save to deny a drive from Amanda Cergovski.
Moments later Mascot were awarded a penalty when Elyce Goss was tripped in the area. Elyce stepped up and hammered her shot at the goal but Tani Rosekelley courageously flung herself at the ball and parried it high into the air and away for one of the saves of the season.
From a quick break Lauren Vasota had her shot saved by Antonella Oliva in goal then Amanda Bowering had her shot tipped away for a corner.
Halfway through the second half and the Vipers took the lead that they?d been threatening to do when Hayley Buckingham got on the end of a defence splitting diagonal pass to slot the ball past the keeper.
The Vipers kept up the assault and Rosekelley twice saved to deny Hayley Buckingham then Doris Osman but there was nothing she could do to stop Mascots fourth as Elyce Goss seized on a half cleared ball to slot the ball home to make 4-2.
The Eagles were not about to give up easily and pulled one back when Brooke Cowie?s shot was saved by Antonella Oliva but from the ensuing scramble Tori Preddy dived in to prod the ball into the net.
Needing to chase the game the Eagles keeper came up court to add to the attack but Sydney City lost possession. Bronwyn Jarvis intercepted a pass and her measured shot from inside her own half hit one post rolled along the goal line hit the other post and went in to give the Vipers a significant two goal lead with 6 minutes left to go.
With two minutes left on the clock the Vipers put the game beyond doubt when Alana Macey slotted her inch perfect shot just inside the keepers left hand post to seal a 6-3 victory for the Vipers.
With the Eagles missing key players Fabiana Perfilio, Amanda Bowering, Brooke Cowie and co. put up a brave fight but in the end they were no match for Elyce Goss and her Vipers teammates who deservedly took all three points.
