Super Youth League Round 1 Review

Please allow me to take this opportunity to wish all the clubs, teams, players, coaches, managers and administrators all the very best of good fortune for 2010 and I sincerely hope that this playing year brings everything you could hope for.
I would love to include goal scorers and more detailed reports in this column each week but the only way I can do so is if the clubs provide me with the information. I do get out and about each week but I cannot possibly visit all eighteen match venues on a given weekend.
Therefore, every club has an open invitation to send me their details every week ? such as the scorers, the times the goals were scored and even a brief (if biased) report on each match. The only catch is that I need to receive this information before 9.00am on Monday mornings. You can send your information to barrydavis52@hotmail.com but please remember that anything sent after the deadline may be missed and therefore not included in the report.
Goals were the order of the season?s first day as every single game involved the ball finding the back of the net at least once and in seventeen of the matches played on the day both teams scored.
It is far too early to even think about considering the competition tables as history has shown that none of the competitions will begin to settle down until about the fourth or fifth rounds.
Club Championship
Spirit FC must have been absolutely delighted when they took all the points from their visit to Macarthur Rams while newly promoted Sydney University should be very pleased that their first day at this level yielded a dozen points from Granville Rage.
Western Panthers made their trip to Schofields Scorpions pay as they went home with ten of the available points and Dulwich Hill bagged a haul of eleven points from their home games against Northern Tigers.
Mounties Wanderers raised more than a few eyebrows when they grabbed nine points at home to powerhouse club PCYC Parramatta while Blacktown Spartans pocketed eight points at home to Central Coast Lightning.
