Transport to leading the line at Stallions for Gordon

The 25-year-old striker trains three nights a week and breaks it down as Monday and Wednesday are the heavy training nights with Friday.
Being a tactical based evening prior to their weekend match as the team captain, his first year with the armband, he has shouldered the responsibility well after taking over from Nahuel Arrarte.
?It?s an honour to be handed the armband and skipper a side like Marconi,? he says, but we all know where we need to be so the guys make it a little easier on the pitch as we all have the confidence in each others ability.?
?Anyone can win this league, it?s probably the most open contest in recent seasons but I?m sure we?ll see the likes of Blacktown, Bonnyrigg and Sydney United pushing all the way along with ourselves and any number of others who certainly have the ability to be there.
?It?s a very hard call to make this early into the campaign so anyone can go on and win it.?
Stallions coach Lee Sterrey often comes across as a thinking but stern looking guy but is this the case in reality?
?When it comes to training etc. Lee is very contentious and many mistake this as being dour but as a coach he is a great motivator and knowledgeable but off the pitch he is a relaxed guy with a terrific sense of humour.
?When we are training he is very intense but that is the professional side of him which is the one most people see and generally form an opinion on but it isn?t the complete picture which many forget.?
There is a tradition in football that the guy who basically stuffs up in the week is forced to wear a different colour jersey at training until he can pass it on. Is this the case with the Stallions?
?Yes,? laughs Gordon and it?s always fun to see who gets the pink jersey each week as a lot of laughs and politics come into the decision and helps form the bond in the squad.
?I know the next question is have I had to wear it this season and the answer is yes, just the once and that was enough because you become the butt of jokes at training so I don?t really want it again.?
We need to stop for a few moments as the rangy striker collapses into laughter once again and maybe the rest of the interview we will publish later in the year as it?s well worth waiting for.
Lovely guy off the pitch but another I wouldn?t want to meet on it and we wish him well for the remainder of the campaign.
