Some mouth watering matchups bookend Saturday nights World Cup viewing.
Saturday Matches
Three games on Saturday night to warm you up for the Socceroos.
At Christie Park, Marsfield, fellow Central Coast Mariners ‘feeder’ clubs Spirit FC and Central Coast Lightning face off. Spirit need to capture their McDonalds Cup form and show it off in the league, with coach Jason van Blerk still shuffling his pack to find the right combination. Lightning coach Peter Preston will work hard this week to get his charges back up after last week’s drubbing at Granville, and will have had a trial match against the Central Coast Mariners on Thursday night to battle-harden his men – though they face a team that knows how to craft a win with Ben Gough eyeing off returning to top scorer.  
Granville Rage will be confident coming into this game after good wins, and showing all the guile that having some veterans bring. Dulwich Hill however have quietly been going about their own business, moving up the table, and should give a good account of themselves at FS Garside Park, Granville. They bring some experienced players of their own, with Tony Faria getting on the scoresheet last week. The Rage desperately want to stay it touch with the leaders and have the firepower to do it through Nenos Bobo and Kris Holbrook among others.
Sydney University have been slipping down the table and coach John Caruana will want to put a stop to that, starting this Saturday – in the game against visiting Mt Druitt Town Rangers.  Rangers are quite capable of spoiling those plans however and prove a tough hurdle, with Eddie Georges due one or two goals. Set down for Hensley Athletic Field where the upgrade has been delayed so far, the location of this match is now Seymour Shaw, Miranda.
All these games are due to commence at 7:30pm (Grade 20 at 5pm)
Sunday Matches
The remaining three games are on Sunday afternoon
Fraser Park are at home again and the visitors this time are FC Bossy Liverpool. Fraser Park desperately need points, and FC Bossy will not be an easy opponent to take them from; however with player/coach Ante Juric on the park they shouldn’t be discounted. Alex Asanovic will be an threat however to Fraser Park’s defence.                            
At Melita Stadium, South Granville, Parramatta Eagles versus Macarthur Rams will show just whose momentum will remain after the weekend. Just when it looks like the Eagles will soar away with the lead, there is a feather or two lost – and the Rams are just the ones to do the plucking.  Parramatta’s coach Brian Dean will need Shayne Ardel and Daniel Fogarty at their goal-scoring best for this one.  Can they stop current leading scorer, the Ram’s Sam Messam however?
Northern Tigers are still on their run of home games at Mills Park, Asquith, as they host St George Saints, and with confidence sky-high after banging in six last week their strike force will surely test Nick Orlic’s men. Michael Simmonds and Park Sung-yun for two are not easy to contain. This one could be close but also high-scoring as Saints bring north some firepower too, in Juan Chavez, Christian Cevenini, and Ivo De Jesus.
