Guests should arrive at the course at 6:30am to register and pay a small $65 fee in order to be able to tee off by 8:00am. After a hard day on the course, guests are invited to back it up the following day with the Celebration Night kicking off at 7:00pm as a ?black and white with a touch of gold? theme. The cost is $50 per head with an informal cocktail format to enable the many long term members the opportunity to catch up on old times. Attendees looking to attend either event must book their spot by July 16.
The celebrations will allow past and present members and friends the chance to reminisce on old times and commemorate what the club has brought to thousands of players in the past 50 years.
In order to ensure the celebrations have that magic touch, the club has planned on displaying many pieces of memorabilia on the Celebration Night. Graphic photos of the working bees in the early 1960s showing the club dads literally constructing the oval by hand from gullies full of blackberry bushes, is just an example of the many treasures which will be displayed.
The club is asking for people with any old photographs, newsletters, trophies and other precious treasures that maybe of interest on the night to contact Lee Owens (leecowens@gmail.com).
Still playing out of their (almost spiritual) home at Peel Park in Gladesville, the Ravens is a Sports Club which includes golf, tennis, basketball, netball, cricket, tee-ball and baseball. With its heavily focused scope on the local community, the club has always emphasised participation from boys and girls as well for senior players to play at the higher levels of the game.
The club?s football team currently compete in the Premier League divisions of the Gladesville Hornsby Association and enjoys being one of Australia?s largest women?s football cub with more than 30 teams.
With such a successful history, it?s easy to see why people such as current club president, John Cunningham, have stuck around since 1961. Having played, coached and administrated the club with several stints as President in the past, John is honoured to be part of such huge celebrations.
?This is a great honour to be involved over a long period of time with a club that has provided sporting activities in the local community, formed many long term friendships and memories that we will never forget.?
The Ravens encourage everyone who has a link to the club to take part in the celebrations. Bookings and payments for both events are available online via the Ravens website, www.gladesvilleravens.com.au or by calling Lynette Pride on 9879 4542.
