Carss Park FC Celebrate 80th Anniversary 80s Style
The oldest club in the St. George district will kick off its 80s themed night at 7:00pm at The Fisherman?s Club on Bestic Street, Brighton-le-Sands. A small $85 fee will see to it that guests receive a 3 course meal/drinks, entertainment, a fun atmosphere and an opportunity to celebrate the rich Carss Park legacy.
The club is expecting around 250 guests with notable names such as former Sydney FC winger, Nikolas Tsattalios and A- League referee, Matthew Breeze. Carss Park FC is also hoping for a member of the late Johnny Warren’s family to join in on the celebration along with former International Paul Degney. Proudly, all four were former Carss Park juniors. Further, local politicians arelooking to take part as well.
With prizes such as a World Cup 2010 Socceroos signed jersey, a Lucas Neil and Pim Verbeek signed ball and a St.George-Illawarra corporate package up for grabs via raffle and auction, it?s easy to see why the guest list is filling up fast.
Club President, Darryl Hancock, believes that attendees can expect to have a night to remember.
?The night will undoubtedly be fun and memorable with everyone turning up in their 80s costumes,? said Hancock.
?Carss Park is the first club to achieve such a milestone in the district and we are going to make sure we celebrate this unique achievement,? he added.
The celebration will see at least six of the past club presidents acknowledged for the work they have done while a Power Point presentation is underway to show the history of the club.
Currently hosting 38 teams with over 450 registered players, Carss Park is renowned for its development of young players. In fact, the U/10 A?s have found themselves regularly competing in the Champion of Champions year in and year out.
?Every year we lose many players to Metro due to the development we give to our young players,? said Hancock.
While enjoying its charity focused approach for many years, Carss Park has a simple message to guests thinking of joining the commemoration:
?Come and celebrate 80 years of park football with us. This is the basis of football in Australia and we would love your support,? said Hancock.
Guests interested in attending the dinner/dance night should contact Penny Hancock on 0425 296 917 and RSVP their booking by July 18. Any loan of memorabilia for the evening would be greatly appreciated.
