RESCHEDULED MATCHES ?
(Round 12)
Hills Brumbies ? Stanmore Hawks 2-2 to be continued?
This match proved a real thriller, with some quality strikes, and great football between two sides sitting in the top five.
But alas, floodlight failure towards the end of the match has meant a pending investigation, and the result has yet to be confirmed by Football NSW.
(Round 12)
Inter Lions ? Mounties Wanderers 3-0 to be replayed?
Inter Lions were all over Mounties on Wednesday night at Crest Complex, leading 3-0, when floodlight failure just after the hour mark has deemed the result ?null and void?, and the match will be replayed at a date yet to be advised by Football NSW.
(Round 12)
Hurstville ZFC ? Schofields Scorpions 0-0
Schofields may end up regretting their failure to grab all three points in a scoreless draw with bottom placed, Hurstville ZFC, in a rescheduled encounter.
The Scorpions are sitting in fourth position on the ladder on 28 points, but the three teams below them on the ladder all have games in hand, and may prove a threat to their semi final aspirations.
ROUND SEVENTEEN
SCHOFIELDS SCORPIONS ? BALMAIN SC  1-0
Saturday, July 10, at CSI Sport Ground
Schofields returned to the winner?s list on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 1-0 triumph over the visiting Balmain SC.
Following a scoreless first half, Stivala got the all important goal for the Scorpions in the 50th minute to give them a valuable three points, giving them some much needed breathing space over the chasing pack.
STANMORE HAWKS ? CAMDEN TIGERS 1-1
Saturday, July 10, at Arlington Oval
Stanmore Hawks had to come from behind at home on Saturday to snatch a point against the stubborn Camden Tigers.
When Cook put the Tigers in front fairly early after 20 minutes, it seemed like the Hawks would never score despite their efforts.
But the equalizer did come eventually, and it was a central defender that did the trick, with Lopreiato grabbing his second goal in first grade in the 75th minute to give his side a share of the spoils.
The Hawks are holding onto their fifth spot by the skin of their teeth, being equal on points with Mounties and one point in front of Inter Lions, both of whom have a match in hand on Stanmore.
BLACKTOWN SPARTANS ? GLADESVILLE RYDE MAGIC 2-2
Saturday, July 10, at Francis Park No.2
Blacktown Spartans threw away a great chance to reduce the gap on leaders, Hills Brumbies, when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Gladesville Ryde Magic.
A flurry of goals arrived in the quarter hour just before the break, starting with Glenn McPherson?s opener in the 30th minute to put Blacktown ahead.
McKie equalized for Magic in the 42nd minute, but Canessa restored Blacktown?s lead a minute before half time.
McKie managed to grab his seventh of the season in the 75th minute to draw Gladesville level, and it remained that way to give each side a share of the spoils.
HILLS BRUMBIES ? FAIRFIELD CITY LIONS 2-2
Saturday, July 10, at Second Ponds Oval
The match of the round ended all square at Second Ponds Oval when Hills Brumbies and Fairfield City Lions shared four goals between them.
Fairfield?s playmaker, and the league?s top goalscorer, Yavos Ekinci, made it 1-0 to the Lions by scoring after just 7 minutes.
But Hills skipper, Terry Pannowitz, restored parity in the 14th minute, and that?s the way t stayed until half time.
Young Ben Cronk put Fairfield in front once again in the 53rd minute with his 8th goal of 2010, only for Brendan Mitrovich continued his recent form to draw Hills level with an equalizer in the 63rd minute, rounding off the scoring.
HURSTVILLE ZFC ? INTER LIONS 3-4
Sunday, July 11, at Hurstville Oval
Drama and goals galore at Hurstville Oval on Sunday afternoon as Inter Lions made the mother of all comebacks to snatch all three points after being 0-3 down with twenty minutes to play.
After a fairly even opening stanza, Hurstville exploded minutes before the break when goals by Kostanic (43rd) and Jurleta (44th) gave them a 2-0 half time lead.
When Dejanovic made it three for the home side on 67 minutes, it would have been a  brave man to put money on anything but a second win in 2010 for Hurstville ZFC.
But Nick Tarquinio?s men clicked into gear, and proceeded to score four goals in a dazzling twelve minute spell that allowed the visiting Lions to recover an unlikely three points.
Chiandotto pulled one back on 70 minutes to start the resurgence, with Leo Carle making it 2-3 in the 76th.
Gonzales equalized for Inter in the 79th, before Domenic Dimento grabbed the fourth and  winning goal in the 82nd minute to cap off a remarkable comeback.
Inter?s win sees them move to 24 points, one outside the top five, and will help build confidence as they approach the back end of the season.
UNSW ? MOUNTIES WANDERERS
Sunday, July 11, at David Phillips Field
David Phillips Field once more fell foul of the weather this week, deemed unplayable, and causing the postponement of the UNSW-Mounties clash on Sunday afternoon.
Neither side will be complaining too much, however, with the ?students? still nursing a long injury list, whilst the Mounties played midweek and won?t mind the rest.
