Super Youth League Round 20 Review
Club Championship
Spirit FC are still at the top of this table by a margin of twenty-two points and so they are well on the way to claiming the title while Dulwich Hill are in second position and they are four points ahead of third placed Sydney University.
PCYC Parramatta are twenty points further back at fourth and they are only one point ahead of fifth placed Western NSW Panthers who, in the only fixture played last weekend, collected nine points when they hosted ninth placed Granville Rage after the clubs had spilt the first round points at seven apiece.
Central Coast Lightning are placed sixth and they are nine points behind the Panthers but only one point ahead of seventh placed Mounties Wanderers.
In eighth position are Blacktown Spartans who trail the Wanderers by twenty-three points and they are three points ahead of Granville. Northern Tigers are tenth, thirteen points behind Rage and three points ahead of eleventh placed Schofields Scorpions. Macarthur Rams are four points further adrift in last place and really battling to avoid relegation.
Interestingly, the fixtures to be rescheduled include Dulwich Hill v Spirit FC (2nd v 1st), Sydney University v PCYC Parramatta (3rd v 4th) and Schofields Scorpions v Macarthur Rams (11th v 12th). That will only increase the pressure on the crowded schedule of matches due to be played over the remaining two weeks.
Grade 13
Sydney University are six points clear at the top of the table with Central Coast Lightning sitting in second spot and they are five points ahead of third placed Mounties Wanderers and fourth placed Spirit FC who are separated only by goal difference.
Four points further back are Dulwich Hill and Western NSW Panthers who will fight it out for the remaining place in the finals series. The Panthers picked up three points last weekend when they defeated twelfth placed Granville Rage 1-0. The teams must play each other this coming weekend and that should be interesting as the Panthers will then have only one more match to play while Dully will have two matches remaining.
PCYC Parramatta are eight points further back at seventh and they are two points ahead of eighth placed Schofields Scorpions. Macarthur Rams are three points behind the Scorpions and three points ahead of Northern Tigers.
Eleventh placed Blacktown Spartans are two points adrift of the Tigers and four points ahead of last placed Granville.
Grade 14
Dulwich Hill have a lead of nine points at the top of the table and they need only one point from the remaining three matches to be crowned Premiers while Spirit FC are occupying second spot.
Third placed Sydney University are three points further back and they are five points clear of Central Coast Lightning who have an advantage of two points over fifth placed Blacktown Spartans.
Western NSW Panthers are sixth and only two points outside the top five after they produced a 3-1 victory over ninth placed Granville Rage after the first round match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Mounties Wanderers are only one point further back at seventh and they are two points ahead of Northern Tigers who will need quite a bit of luck if they are to make it to the play-offs.
Granville are nine points further adrift and they are one point ahead of tenth placed Macarthur Rams who are three points clear of PCYC Parramatta and four points ahead of last placed Schofields Scorpions.
Grade 15
Granville Rage are five points clear at the top of the table after they posted a 3-1 victory over sixth placed Western NSW Panthers in the only match played last weekend.
Now it becomes really interesting as the next five teams will fight it out for the remaining four places over the next two weeks.
PCYC Parramatta are in second spot and they are only a point in front of Dulwich Hill. They are one point in front of Sydney University and Spirit FC who are separated only by goal difference and those two have a one point jump over the Panthers who are the only member of this group to have only two more matches to play.
Central Coast Lightning are eleven point behind the Panthers at seventh and they are three points ahead of Schofields Scorpions and Blacktown Spartans who are separated by goal difference.
Mounties Wanderers and Macarthur Rams are a point further adrift at tenth and eleventh respectively while Northern Tigers are bring up the tail of the field five points further back.
Grade 16
Spirit FC have a lead of five points at the top of the table and they are followed by PCYC Parramatta who are ten points ahead of their nearest rivals. The top two team are assured of a place in the finals but there is sure to be plenty of interest in who will join them as the next eight teams are covered by a blanket of only six points.
Western NSW Panthers are third after they suffered a 2-1 loss to eighth placed Granville Rage in the only game played last weekend while Macarthur Rams are only behind the Panthers on goal difference.
Schofields Scorpions are one point further back at fifth and they are two points ahead of Mounties Wanderers, Blacktown Spartans and Granville Rage who are separated only by goal difference.
Dulwich Hill are only two points behind that trio and Sydney University are in need of a bit of luck as they are two points behind Dully.
Central Coast Lightning are ten points further back and they are four points better off than last placed Northern Tigers.
Grade 18
While NSWIS have the lead on the table they cannot play in the finals series so I have left them out of the calculations in this article.
Spirit FC have an advantage of three points over second placed PCYC Parramatta and they are two points better off than Northern Tigers.
Then there is a break of four points to fourth placed Dulwich Hill who have an advantage of one point over Central Coast Lightning and they are one point in front of sixth placed Mounties Wanderers. Sydney University are the only other contender for a top five spot and they are two points behind the Wanderers.
Eighth placed Western NSW Panthers were 2-0 winners over tenth placed Granville Rage in the only match played on the weekend. That reversed the first round result when Rage won 3-1.
Blacktown Spartans are one point behind the Panthers at ninth while eleventh placed Schofields Scorpions are two points adrift of rage with Macarthur Rams five points further back.
