Former Socceroo legend Alex Tobin joins Football NSW
In what has been seen as a major coup for Football NSW the former Adelaide City, Parramatta Power and Northern Spirit centre back will instil invaluable experience into the program endorsed by Football Federation Australia.
?I am looking forward to the challenge. Both the FFA and FNSW recognise that the quality of players being produced needs to be raised. My aim will be to create a culture in youth football in NSW where development is the absolute priority.?
Our High Performance United Manager Paul Bentvelzen who was the creator of Project 22 is excited with Alex?s acquisition and has seen his commitment to improving the development and evolution of Project 22.
Football NSW CEO Michael Quarmby has seen the appointment of Tobin as a landmark decision on the continual development of future stars as well as coaches currently part of the Project 22 setup.
?Football NSW are delighted to have someone with the experience of Alex on board.
?Alex?s contribution I?m sure will be a significant plus for not only players involved in Project 22 but the many coaches as well.?
The 44-year-old will be working in a number of key areas in the highly successful Project 22 program which includes:
? Academy accreditation process
? Panel for selection of players
? Professional development of coaches
? Development of the second tier development program
Tobin will also be the public face for Project 22?s new media strategies in assisting with the development programs currently being put in place at Football NSW.
Tobin?s inclusion is seen as a step in the right direction as Project 22 is aimed at producing future Socceroos (like Alex) and Matildas who will potentially compete at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Project 22 seeks to identify the best players in the 9-14 age groups across NSW, aiming to lay down the foundations required to give the best youth footballers in the state the highest chance possible to succeed at the elite level as adult footballers.
Based on the National Curriculum and endorsed by Football Federation Australia (FFA), Project 22 is centered on Football NSW being able to exceed world best practice in providing an elite competition and training environment for our future National Team players.
The program is free to all selected players, this highly professional development setup allows players to train up to five (5) times a week ? for 42 weeks of the year ? with highly experienced and qualified instructors.
