There’s also several of our favourite segments as well:
ONE TO WATCH: KATIE-LOUISE PATTERSON is a 20 year old economics student but also one of the best young referees in Australia. Like many who take up the whistle, Katie-Louise started playing football at a young age before working her way through the referee ranks. She is now on the National Panel and within sight of FIFA accreditation.
MY CLUB: They might be one of the smallest clubs in Australia but ST JOSEPHS, who are based in the Nepean Association in the west of Sydney, certainly has a bright future. There’s only 10 teams at St Josephs – five of them junior sides. BRENDON RAWLINGS, from the Under 11s team, takes us behind the scenes.
STAR OF THE WEEK: FOOTBALL UNITED began four years ago with a vision to assist recently arrived humanitarian refugee youth and families in their transition into Australian society. This wonderful initiative was founded by UNI of NSW lecturer ANNE BUNDE-BIROUSTE. It’s attracted the attention of FIFA, with Football United invited to compete in the recent Football for Hope Festival which was run at the same time as the World Cup in South Africa. FSOT surprised Anne at the team’s recent welcome home BBQ!! A story you won’t want to miss!!
CELEBRITY RETROSPECTIVE: Our host – dual international ELLYSE PERRY – has certainly had a load of fun with the 2010 Celebrity Challenge. Ellyse takes us down memory lane recalling the exploits of such famous faces like GEORGE CALOMBARIS, LIBBY TRICKETT, MICHELLE BRIDGES, KEVIN MUSCAT, SALLY FITZGIBBONS, DR CHRIS BROWN, ADAM GOODES, NICKY & JORDAN CARLE, DAMIEN LEITH & DEANO GLADSTONE. Who would have thought that one of our celebrities would score maximum points!!
NSWPL GRAND FINAL: It’s the showcase game of the NSW Premier League and rather fitting that the Premiers BONNYRIGG WHITE EAGLES will meet second-placed BLACKTOWN CITY at Parramatta Stadium. Bonnyrigg will be out for revenge after being smashed 4-0 by Blacktown during the finals series. We have have a comprehensive report on this special day, including highlights of how both teams qualified for the big one!!
GOAL OF THE WEEK: There has been some amazing entries this year and quite honestly every submission has been worthy of winning a HUMMEL Gift Pack. In our final episode, there’s three rather unique goals including one from a slightly older player – ANTHONY SIMONE (Mosman Over 35s!!). JENNA COLLINGRIDGE (Cootamundra) and DANIELA SPREM (Fairfield Hotspurs) certainly give Anthony a run for his money!!
