Football a favourite for Aussie kids

The ABS Assistant Director of the National Centre for Culture and Recreation Statistics Paul Pamment, said that football was very popular with Australian kids.
?The Children?s Participation in Cultural and Leisure Activities survey showed that 60 per cent of Australian kids participated in organised sport in the 12 months to April 2012,? he said.
?Almost a quarter of all boys (22 per cent) played football,? he added.
In addition, NSW boasted a 60 per cent participation rate, whereby kids played at least one organised sport in the 12 months to April 2012.
As evidenced, football remains a hugely popular sport, played by boys, girls, men and women of all ages, through both the summer and winter seasons, from grassroots through to the elite.
It has been the case in recent years that football has been the most popular sport amongst those categories of all the football codes, both state and Australia wide.
