Westfield W-League ‘Silver Round’ in support of ovarian cancer research

Football Federation Australia is proud to announce its inaugural Westfield W-League ?Silver Round? in support the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, Australia?s pre-eminent body supporting ovarian cancer research.
In support of this worthy cause, the Westfield W-League has declared this weekend?s round as its ?Silver Round?. All players will be wearing silver shoelaces to show their commitment to fighting ovarian cancer, and supporting the thousands of Australian women and their families who are affected by this insidious disease.
One Australian woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer, which has a mortality rate that is proportionally higher than breast cancer, because there is currently no early detection method.
Football fans and families who come to each of the four games in Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth, will be able to make a donation, or purchase their own silver shoelaces and silver pins to help fund research for early detection and help save lives.
?Football Federation Australia is delighted to have come on board in support of the OCRF, and help raise awareness of this disease, and encourage more Australians to support research that we hope will ultimately save women?s lives,? said Head of the Westfield W-League Damien De Bohun.
?We would like to encourage everyone to get down to their local Westfield W-League game this weekend to support this great cause, and also watch some fantastic football.?
