Ian Crook appointed Football NSW Coach Coordinator

He will assist those clubs in both their Youth Development plans and their overall technical direction.
Ian was delighted with his appointment and was eagerly anticipating the start of the football season overseeing the further development of the sport.
“I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity by Football NSW to help engage with up and coming coaches and technical directors to further enhance their abilities to help promote the sport.
“Football is an ever growing sport with a healthy participation rate; the same can be said in regards to the number of up and coming coaches as well who are joining our ranks and are overseeing the development of our future players.”
Ian brings a wealth of experience to the Coach Coordinator position, having played with distinction at the highest level in his native England at Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, where he made over 400 league appearances in over a decade of loyal service. 
His latter years saw him play in Japan for Sanfrecce Hiroshima and here in Australia for Northern Spirit.
A renowned coach of young players, Ian has performed a number of roles in the coaching space since his retirement as a player.
He was assistant coach to Pierre Littbarski as Sydney FC won the inaugural Hyundai A-League, before following Littbarski in the same role at Avispa Fukuoka the next season.
Stints at the Newcastle Jets and his beloved Norwich City was followed by a role at the NSWIS.
Ian then returned to Sydney FC as an assistant to Vitezslav Lavicka and took on the role of Head Coach upon Lavicka’s departure at the end of last season.
Ian’s vast knowledge and broad expertise will be a fantastic resource to our clubs and Football NSW wishes him a warm welcome in his new role.
