Football’s the winner as NSW Government assists with funding grants
Cowra and District Soccer, Tolland Football Club, Tarrawanna Soccer Club, Moorebank Sports Club, Wollongong United Football Club and the Aweil Community Association in NSW were just some of the clubs that were awarded with funding grants in upgrading their facilities.
NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley echoed his thoughts on the NSW Government assisting the sporting clubs via the funding grants.
"This program provides funding for local initiatives that encourage people to be more active on a regular basis," Mr Annesley said.
"Projects include the resurfacing of netball courts, installing floodlights at ovals and installing shade cloth at swimming pools to assist communities around the state get the most out of their local sport facilities.
"Participation in sport and recreation together with good facilities brings people closer together, as well as offering many health benefits.
"By assisting to fund the development of local sport facilities, the NSW Government is investing in the health and wellbeing of our local communities," Mr Annesley added.
Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore was delighted with the decision that was set to boost these football clubs and their facilities.
"Football NSW is grateful for the support of the NSW Government who have showed their support in assisting sporting clubs by way of the funding grants.
"This is certainly a great initiative for all involved which I am sure will encourage many others to apply for forthcoming funding grants to help assist their clubs.
"Football with its large playing base of well over 205,000 participants from under 6’s right through to the over 45s, are always seeking new and upgraded facilities to ensure players of all ages can maintain a healthy and active lifestyle."
