Grassroots coaching sessions a success at Manly
Representatives from various Manly Warringah Football Association clubs made their way to Cromer Park on Wednesday night for a grassroots coaching session.
It was an initiative piloted by Football Federation Australia, and Manly United FC head coach Craig Midgley said the response was overwhelmingly positive.
“It was great to see almost 200 people turn up and get involved,’’ he said.
“The guys placed focus on behaviour, small sided games and keeping the kids interested in each training session.""
“Between the ages of 6-9 it is all about kids having fun based games and learning by trial and error.
“The parents and coaches took that on board, it gave them a great insight leading into the 2013 season.’’
Over the next few months a course will be staged at Cromer Park targeting players in the under9s-13s age group via the Skills Acquisition Program (SAP).
