New ‘old’ double act at South Coast

Chris Price returned to home town club South Coast Wolves from Sutherland Sharks for the start of the 2013 IGA Premier League NSW Mens 1 campaign and reunited with Michael Robinson who returned last season from Bonnyrigg White Eagles after varying successes although both admit it is a welcome reunion.

"It’s the first time we’ve played together since the year after we won the Grand Final with Sutherland,” they admit in unison and it looks as though the double act is back in full song.
Chris Price added – “I don’t think it’s really taken too long to get the on field partnership going again, it’s pretty normal to what it has always been and it seems to be working well even though we are only two games in to the season.
“We’ve always had a pretty good understanding and it’s working well so hopefully that continues,” he concludes but there was to be a twist in the tail later this evening.”
Robinson joined the mutual appreciation society.
“It’s great to have him back and although I only returned last season I always wanted us to get back here together before we finished our careers.
“We don’t live that far apart and have often spoken about playing together again over the last few years so I am happy it’s come about, he’s a great lad and a terrific addition to our squad.”
Though both enjoyed playing at their respective clubs before returning to the South Coast the persistent travelling to Sydney three or four times a week for training and games can become onerous over the years.
“I enjoyed my four years at Sutherland but like ‘Robbo’ I was a Junior at this club and they were always very good to me going through the years and I suppose deep down I never really wanted to leave when I did.
“Now with work commitments etc. it’s getting quite busy so I had to decide what was best and the time requirements was taking its toll so it’s great to be back here at the Wolves with a great bunch of guys and catch up with the ‘Robbmeister’ again,” he laughs.
“The time was right to return home and a group that is committed to playing for each other so this helped make my decision a little easier,” he concludes.
Robinson chipped in.
“I wouldn’t say that since his return to the club he appears to be any the wiser,” he wryly smiles and you know it’s coming: “Because that is the most sensible thing I’ve heard him say ever!”
The interview descends into fits of laughter as two great mates enjoy the moment before Robinson added.
“I’m sure he must have learnt that from me.”
If the laughter was loud before it reaches new heights after this as the often quietly spoken Robinson unleashes his ready wit.
The evening did have a serious side when the Wolves had to face the emerging Mark Rudan led Sydney United 58 FC side in a battle royal that saw the visitors take home the points in a fiercely contested 2-one win that also saw Price leave the field through injury.
After the game it was revealed that in tracking back against Yuchi Yamuchi the left-sided Wolves midfielder twisted his knee but hopefully nothing too serious for which we wish the lad well but one thing is for sure, the reunited partnership between Robinson and Price looks good on the field however when the boots are hung up, the hair has receded and the paunch has appeared perhaps a new partnership will emerge from the Illawarra, the Price and Robbo comedy duo.
Watch out for that tour coming to an RSL near you shortly……maybe?  but until then, get out and follow the game.
