New Centre for Sports in Warringah
Warringah is receiving a massive sport’s injection with the opening of its first new sportsfield in more than 20 years.
Extensive upgrades at Cromer Park including the addition of a cricket pitch have transformed the facility into a first class sports facility.
Warringah Council’s $4 million investment at Cromer Park delivers:
– A brand new sportsfield, Cromer No. 5
– Synthetic turf pitch, Cromer No. 1
– A new cricket pitch
– Three refurbished fields
– Competition standard lights
– A new carpark
– A new bike path
– Completion of the off road multi-use path
– Innovative water harvesting system that captures water from the synthetic pitch and uses it on the grass grounds saving millions of litres of town water per year Warringah Mayor, Michael Regan, has inspected the field and tried out the cricket pitch.
“This is a historic moment for sports lovers. We’re committed to providing leading-edge recreational facilities in Warringah. Our investment at Cromer Park, with its new sportsfield and facilities for more sports, is clear evidence of this.”
“Cromer now has an enviable array of public sports facilities – bike tracks, numerous fields for junior and professional sports plus a brand new cricket pitch.
“The new facilities, in addition to the synthetic pitch built last year, provide an additional 100 hours of play per week. We’re confident that the community, including sporting and non-sporting users will enjoy these upgrades to Cromer Park,” said the Mayor.
Ray Fanning, President of the Manly Warringah Football Association said: “The MWFA welcomes the significant investment by Warringah Council to provide Cromer Park with a fifth full size football pitch. The provision of improved drainage, irrigation and competition standard lighting will ensure that more players are provided a place to play and train which can only benefit our high participation based sport. We look forward to increases in grassroots participation due to the increasing quality and number of football facilities.”
