Marconi Stallions have snapped up the services of former favourite son Evan Berger for the remainder of the IGA National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1 competition.
Marconi is no strange place for Berger, having previously played for the Stallions from 2005 up until his appointment with the mighty Melbourne Victory in the Hyundai A-League in 2007.
“It’s really good to be back at home. I’m ready to just get back on the field and help this team get a
back to back championship title.”
Berger also stated when asked what it is like to be working under former NSL star and Marconi Stallions first grade coach Jean Paul De Maringy.
“It’s a privilege to be working with JP. He’s a very well-respected coach and has a really expansive skill set.”
Stallions’ coach JP De Maringy is very pleased the acquisition for Berger; “We have had a few minor setbacks at the beginning of the season with a large number of injuries and a minimal number of strikers. With Evan on board I know he will make a great contribution to our attacking line and he will be a great asset to the team.”
Evan Berger has had a great run in the Hyundai A-League having played well over 50 appearances with his final club being the Perth Glory as he recently completed the 2012/2013 season.
Berger has commenced training with Marconi Stallions on Tuesday night and is prepping up for Round 10 fixture against another former NSL and local derby team Sydney United 58 FC this Sunday at Marconi Stadium.
Tickets on sale: adults are $15, concession $10 and children under 16 are free.
