NSW Metro girls crowned National Champions

NSW Metro has been crowned the National Youth Girls Champion in both the Under-13 and Under-15 age groups following yet another win at the National Youth Championships for Girls in Coffs Harbour.
Both teams secured the title with a game to play following a so far flawless tournament.
It has been an impressive four days of football from the NSW Metro U-13’s and it was no different on Thursday when they easily accounted for Victoria Metro 3-0.
Goals to Kellie Wilding and Karly Vouros had the NSW side in control before a Victorian own goal sealed the result.
Not to be out done the NSW Metro U-15’s also put three past Victoria in a 3-1 win.
Kirsten Davis’s double and a goal to Demi Koulizakis was the difference as the NSW Metro team wrapped up top spot in their group.
In the day’s other action NSW Country U-13’s and U-15’s both battled out hard fought draws.
The U-13’s took on Northern NSW and had a near perfect start when Claire Mahoney hit the back of the net after 90 seconds.
However it all turned pear shape for the Country girls as Northern struck twice late on to take an unexpected lead.
Tayla Lloyd of NSW Country ensured her team didn’t go home empty handed scoring a last ditch goal in the 78th minute to wrap up a 2-2 final result.
NSW Country U-15’s were also unlucky not to turn an early goal into victory when they drew with Capital Football 1-1
Kalinda Wills 21st minute goal had NSW County on the brink of a win until Olivia Fogarty’s goal in the final four minutes snatched a point for Capital Football
While the Championship has been decided there is still plenty to play for on the final day of competition at BCU International Stadium.
The friendly rivalry between NSW Metro and NSW Country will be on display in the U-13’s as both sides go head to head.
In the U-15’s NSW Metro will be determined to remain undefeated as they take on a resilient Northen NSW while NSW Country will look to end its competition on a high with a win in its game against Queensland.
