Western NSW to host Football NSW Regional League Grand Finals
Mudgee’s Glen Willow Regional Sporting Complex will play host to the inaugural Football NSW Regional League Grand Finals on Sunday September 22.
The announcement of the Regional League Grand Finals has been hailed as a major coup for both the Football branch and Mudgee’s excellent facility that is the Glen Willow Regional Sporting Complex.
Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore followed his thoughts on how important staging the Regional League Finals at Mudgee meant to the game.
“Football NSW is delighted with the decision to stage the inaugural Regional League Cup Grand Finals at the wonderful facility that is the Glen Willow Regional Sporting Complex at Mudgee.
“This event follows the staging our Under 14 State Championships for Boys at the Complex in July.
“Football NSW greatly appreciates the ongoing support from Mayor Des Kennedy and the Mid-Western Regional Council for football in the region.
“The growth and development of football throughout regional NSW centres is a focus for Football NSW which we hope will be assisted via major events such as the Regional League Cup Grand Final.
“Regional NSW centres have been graced with various Hyundai A-League pre-season matches in past seasons so I am sure that Sunday’s finals will be a spectacle not to be missed.”
Western NSW Football Operations and Development Manager Andrew Fearnley was delighted to see that regional NSW was treated to such an event at Mudgee’s newly furbished facility.
“The facility at Glen Willow is first class, and is fitting for the inaugural Grand Finals in this new competition.
“It is of course a great reward with Western NSW having a team in each of the Grand Finals but overall the decision to play at Mudgee highlights the approach by Football NSW in promoting the game across all of NSW.”
Western NSW Football will have all four teams involved in what will be a fantastic spectacle for the game after achieving positive results throughout the entire season.
The Under 12 Boys will see the Western NSW Mariners FC take on country rivals Southern NSW in what promises to be a blockbuster affair between two evenly matched sides.
In the Under 13’s category, the Western NSW Mariners face Northbridge FC while in the 14s, the Granville Rage will tackle the Western NSW Mariners.
Finishing up the day will see the Western NSW Mariners take on Nepean FC in the Under 15 Boys in what will round up a quality day of football action.
