The first Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) Gala Day for U9’s and 10’s and Girls SAP U10’s at Valentine Sports Park that was scheduled to take place this weekend has been cancelled.
With the recent deluge of rain that’s hit Sydney in the past forty-eight hours and with more rain expected across the remainder of the week, the grass pitches have been deemed unplayable.
Whilst not all matches are scheduled to be played on the grass pitches, Football NSW believe that cancellation of the weekend in full is the only reasonable option.
In addition to this, the areas surrounding the venue, including spectator viewing, car park and warm up areas are extremely waterlogged.
Football NSW are of the view that this would have led to further issues over the course of the weekend, including player and spectator safety and an overall poor football experience.
Football NSW would like to take this opportunity to express our disappointment in being unable to host the SAP Gala Day for U9’s, U10’s and Girls SAP U10’s and offer our apologies for any inconvenience.
Unfortunately, this weekend cannot be rescheduled due to scheduling challenges within the 2017 Football Calendar, however we can confirm that the Gala Day for these age groups is still scheduled for 29th and 30th July.
Football NSW look forward to hosting the next SAP Gala Day which will be held on 1st and 2nd April for U11, U12 & Girls U12 SAP.
More information on this Gala Day will be conveyed shortly.
