Western NSW Challenge Cup
The seventh Western NSW Football Challenge Cup was held over the recent weekend at Dubbo’s Lady Cutler Oval as South Dubbo Wanderers (Mens) and Dubbo RSL (Womens) taking out their Cup competitions respectively.
Despite a deluge of rain early last week, the fields recovered well enough for the tournament to take place.
The Challenge Cup is contested by the Associations Grand Finalists from within Western Branch from the previous season.
The Men’s Grand Final was an all Dubbo affair with South Dubbo Wanderers defeating Dubbo Bulls 3-1 while Charles Sturt University from Bathurst clinched third spot.
In the female category, another Dubbo side won the spoils, capping a good weekend for the host association with Dubbo RSL defeating Parkes Raptors 1-0 in the Grand Final.
Macquarie United from Dubbo rounded out the day finishing in third position.
