Central Coast Football in conjunction with Football NSW launched its 2019 Coaching Education Program with a Skills Training Certificate for young coaches from both Central Coast United and Central Coast Mariners Academy over the weekend at the Centre of Excellence in Tuggerah.
The course was primarily targeted at coaches working within the Central Coast’s new initiative of the ‘Junior Reps Program’ for children aged between 8-12 years.
Within the local based program, children are provided with developmental opportunities in line with the skill acquisition phase in addition to their community-based football.
Central Coast Mariners’ Centre of Excellence played host to this informative weekend with the facility providing an excellent backdrop of such a worthwhile initiative.
The Course was conducted by Football NSW’s Coach Education Manager Oscar Gonzalez along with Central Coast Mariners Academy Directory Ken Schembri.
Gonzalez in particular was pleased with how the weekend unfolded and praised Schembri’s involvement with the program.
“It’s great to see Ken take up the reigns in assisting with the roll out of our Coach Education development programs on the Coast.
“He is keen on getting both young and more experienced coaches involved to support the football community over the entire Coast.
“This first group of coaches which comprised of both local coaches and players from their National Youth League squad is a fantastic starting point and a sign of bigger things to come from what is football mad area.”
