Pittwater RSL Crowned the 2019 Cheryl Salisbury Cup
Pittwater RSL FC secured the Cheryl Salisbury Cup with a comfortable 4-nil victory against Parklea SFC this morning at Valentine Sports Park.
The first chance of the contest fell to Pittwater RSL FC. Zoe Edwards lined up a free-kick that flashed wide of the post as the Manly Warringah Association side started the better.
Edwards finished her second chance of the contest. The Pittwater RSL FC striker strode confidently into the box before she arrowed into the bottom left corner. 1-nil to Pittwater RSL FC.
Next, Sasha Dowling had a pair of chances for Pittwater RSL FC. Her first effort was snatched at then from the resulting corner, she couldn’t connect properly as the goalkeeper gobbled it up.
Pittwater kept searching for the second goal as Edwards turned well outside the box to find Dowling whose effort squeaked past the post.
Dowling would find Pittwater RSL FC’s second of the morning. The attacker strode into the box and placed her shot off the left post into the net for 2-nil.
In the second half, Pittwater continued to dominate the contest. They found their third goal from the spot. Dowling took the honours from the spot and slammed the ball down the middle for 3-nil.
Mia Links got herself on the scoresheet late in the contest to round off a dominant Pittwater RSL FC victory. She popped up after a goalmouth scramble to sweep the ball making it 4-nil as they finished the game and were crowned Cheryl Salisbury Cup champions.
