Western Sydney Wanderers star Daniel Georgievski is set to embark on his coaching journey as the 32-year-old was announced as Inter Lions’ Technical Director for the Youth Boys overseeing and implementing training sessions throughout all the club’s age groups.

In a massive coup for the ambitious National Premier Leagues 3 NSW Men’s side, the Inner West based club was buzzing with the announcement on appointing Georgievski at the club.

Asked how the opportunity arose, the former Macedonian International stated it was thanks to the COVID break that got him thinking about pursuing his career also in coaching.

“When the first football break happened in April due to COVID, I used to go and train on their new synthetic pitch to keep fit before we restarted the A-League season again.

“I guess from that move, Inter Lions knew that I was living in the area as I received a call from a representative from the club that they had a position opening up and that I might be interested in, so I was more than happy to hear what they had to say.

“From there on the rest was history as I agreed over the weekend and I am looking forward to the new challenges ahead.”

Although Georgievski still has a few years left in him as a footballer, the thought of coaching may be something he may turn to full-time post football career.
“If it is something that comes naturally and I enjoy doing it then I might pursue it after my playing career, we’ll see.”

With a cluster of clubs wishing to sign someone of Georgievski’s pedigree, the question was asked why Inter Lions?

“Why not?

“They are giving me an opportunity to learn and grow and possibly tap into an avenue that I might want to venture out in life after my playing career so I can only thank them for the opportunity and hopefully I can return the favour through my abilities as the season kicks off for 2021.”

Club Secretary Santino Grieco was delighted when the Wanderers’ star full-back chose to kick off his coaching adventure with the club.

“On behalf of our Club President Carlo Ianni and myself we are really looking forward to seeing Daniel working his magic on our youth teams when the league kicks off again next year.

“We know what quality Daniel will bring to the club and will be supporting him to ensure we get the best possible outcome in assisting with our youth development we care so much about.

“Daniel is passionate about player development and will support the club in fostering and driving the football development program for 2021.

“Daniel holds an FFA/AFC ‘B’ license and is a highly respected ambassador in the community where he supports Charity organisations that help equip disadvantaged youth and children in the Balkans.

“Welcome to Inter Lions family Daniel as we wish you all the very best for 2021.”
