Football NSW have announced that it will be hosting a new competition in the form of the Winter Futsal League for both Men and Women kicking off this season.
With the high demand of playing competitive Futsal throughout the calendar year, Football NSW is excited with this new initiative that is sure to attract a high level of interest.
After months of internal consultation and ways to seek improvement as well as exposing the brand of Futsal in NSW, this exciting development will look towards engaging with Futsal based stars in NSW and involving them in a highly competitive environment.
The Winter Futsal League will kick off in late March and will run for 12 weeks including a finals series.
All matches will be played at Football NSW’s Valentine Sports Park with six teams registered and raring to go, they are:
- Eastern Suburbs Hakoah
- Inner West Magic
- Mountain Majik
- Phoenix Futsal
- Sydney Futsal
- West City Crusaders
Football NSW’s Futsal Manager Jordan Guerreiro was excited about the prospect of hosting an elite competition for the betterment of the Futsal game and community overall.
“This is a fantastic opportunity in which our Futsal Players and our Futsal Clubs can now get involved all year round. The Winter Futsal competition is designed to create a middle ground between Grassroots Futsal and Elite Futsal in which Football NSW and the clubs can engage our Futsal players to have a quality competition.
“The Winter Futsal League I believe is an important beginning stage in the development of Futsal to be perceived as a sport that is played by our community all year round. This initiative also opens up an opportunity for these clubs involved to improve their club’s engagement with their players.
“As the State Governing Body of Futsal, we want to continue to improve our service of the game and continue to build our Futsal framework to develop a community of players. Football NSW would like to create a sustainable league and continue to develop and grow this competition to engage with more clubs to get involved.”
Football NSW would like to encourage any players that may be interested in participating in this season’s Winter Futsal League to contact the six clubs, as spots may be limited to join.
More information on fixtures will be announced in due course and will be promoted via the Football NSW website as well as the Football NSW Futsal Facebook page.
