Penrith region Champions announced at Futsal Schools Championships

Football NSW hosted yet another highly successful Futsal Schools Championships at PCYC Hawkesbury last week where the Penrith region celebrated five teams that took home the coveted silverware.

The 14’s category saw the Central Coast Sports College take out the Boys category while Glenmore Park High proved too strong for its competitors in the girls.

The 16 Boys category witnessed Springwood High School reigned supreme taking out the title in style while in the Open Boys, Canberra based Gungahlin College basked in glory with a memorable tournament while Central Coast Sports College ended the day on a high winning its second title of the day in the Open Girls.

Football NSW Futsal Manager Jordan Guerreiro praised the level of competitiveness and skill that was on hand at Hawkesbury.

“It was great to see the Penrith region receive the interest it did from other regional area schools which saw participants from the Central Coast, Canberra and the Mountains take part in what was a great Futsal Schools Championships.

“It was a shame we weren’t able to get a venue in Penrith but thankfully PCYC Hawkesbury as an affiliate to Football NSW, came to the rescue and accommodated this prestigious event.

“There was a great display of individual skill and genuinely good Futsal to watch.

“A lot of the teams had great showmanship and provided good entertainment for all to see.

“We now look forward in building these regional championships with Blacktown next on the list with the tournament commencing on Tuesday 16th of March at the Blacktown Leisure Centre.”

The winners of each regional State Championship will compete for the 2021 NSW State Championships to be held at Hawkesbury PCYC in August kicking off on the 2nd and concluding on the 6th.
