The Office of the Children’s Guardian has released a new Compliance and Enforcement policy about the expectations of organisations that work with children.

The policy represents an escalation of compliance and enforcement, with a focus on capability building to help child-related organisations create safer places.

The Office of the Children’s Guardian will focus on ensuring child-related employers are registered as employers in the Working with Children Check system and verify child-related workers’ Working with Children Checks.

An amnesty for employers to verify their workers ended on 30 June. From 1 July, enforcement action will be taken against employers that have not complied with their obligations.
