Football NSW has announced that Blacktown City Football Centre will play host to this Sunday’s 2022 Waratah Cup Final between League One side NWS Spirit FC and NPL NSW Men’s club Sydney United 58.
With kick-off scheduled for 1pm, this intriguing match will be one not to be missed as both teams go in search for their first piece of silverware in 2022.
For David Perkovic’s NWS Spirit FC side, they’ll be entering this match as the underdogs but will be buoyed by winning promotion into the 2023 NPL NSW Men’s competition following a fantastic season in League One as well as earning themselves their first ever Australia Cup Round of 32 spot.
This will be the second time in the club’s history NWS Spirit FC will take part in the Waratah Cup final after losing out to the Marconi Stallions 7-6 on penalties in 2010.
While for Miro Vlastelica and his troops, it will be an opportunity to salvage some pride as well as adding to the historic trophy cabinet following the club’s tough run in the league which saw them finish eighth which ultimately ended their finals series hopes.
The proud former NSL club will be gunning for its seventh cup glory, a feat if reached, will equal Hakoah Sydney City East who have taken it out a record seven times.
