FNSW Referees win NSW Sports Federation Awards

Both Referees have had a stellar 2008 representing FNSW at the National Youth Championships where Elizabeth was part of the team selected to officiate at the final.  Similarly Scott also has recently returned from Coffs Harbour where he to represented FNSW at the Boys Youth Championships.
Initially identified by their respective Branches as prospective elite match officials both Elizabeth and Scott flourished in the Premier Youth League Panel under the direct coaching of State Technical Committee members, Mr John Parker, Ms Sharon O’Neill and Ms Jenny Bray under the guidance of the State Referees Coach, Steve Fenech.
As 2008 draws to a close both Elizabeth and Scott have secured contracts with Football Federation Australia as Match Officials in the inaugural Westfield Women’s League and the National Youth League respectively and both seem destined for higher honours as their skills continue to develop under the new and innovative training program for youth match officials supported by FNSW Director, Mr George Jackson and implemented by the State Coach.
When asked about the success of the Premier Youth League Panel the State Referee Coach, Steve Fenech, said “despite the obstacles that we faced the Panel concept has been an outstanding success.  The match officials have developed at an awesome rate.  I’m intensely proud of each and every one of them and I can’t wait for 2009 but none of this would have been possible without the support of many of the Referees Branches.”
