In Group A Southern Branch lead after two great wins today over the pre-tournament favorites North West Sydney Koalas (1-0) and Blacktown Spartans (3-1) and they certainly look the goods at this stage despite losing the services of one of their girls yesterday with a bad ankle injury.
Northern Tigers fought back courageously today with two wins (after two losses on Tuesday) and find themselves with a big chance to make the quarter-finals along with Penrith United who have had a win and a loss on each day of competition.
The current standings of Group A are:
Southern Branch ? 12  (+6)
North West Sydney Koalas ? 9  (+6)
Northern Tigers ? 6  (+1)
Penrith Nepean United ? 6  (-1)
Blacktown Spartans ? 1  (-6)
Illawarra Stingrays ? 1  (-6)
In Group B the remarkable Southern Districts Association representative team have defied all the odds and remain undefeated after four rounds, with a great 3-0 win over St George and then an exciting draw against Macarthur Rams who only managed to salvage the draw with seconds remaining in the match.  Sutherland Sharks fought back today with two good wins over CC Lightning (1-0) and Western Branch (1-0) while Central Coast Lightning rebounded from their earlier loss today to the Sharks to grab a 5-0 win over St George in the afternoon.  Macarthur Rams, with a win and a great draw with Southern Districts are still in with a chance which makes the final round even more exciting in Group B.
Who could ever have envisaged that the game between Southern Districts Association and Central Coast Lightning would be such an anticipated clash.
