U/11 lost  2 ? 1
Ian Cockburn?s U11 Southern Branch metro team played their first home game of the season on Sunday at Ison Park where they came up against the very formidable Bankstown District Football Association.
The boys had a great game and they showed a great deal of confidence, and were a lot stronger in their defence.
Bankstown scored their first goal within the first ten minutes. The Southern Branch coaches made some changes in the mid field and that had an impact on the game and five minutes before half time, Oscar Lopez took advantage of a goalie error and scored for Southern Branch.
After a pep talk from the coach the boys came out of the sheds ready to pay some good football and in the second half, both teams had a few opportunities to score, but it was Bankstown who scored a very lucky goal and came away the win 2-1
Well done Southern a better defensive performance and we can still we can build on this
U/12  won  3 ? 0
With Craig Ash?s U12, Southern Branch drawing last week against Canterbury and Bankstown Association recording a first up win, Southern knew that this match was going to be tough. Southern Branch started strongly with great interchange of passing down the left hand side and maintaining possession, leaving Bankstown Association with limited opportunities to touch the ball.
Southern Branch maintained this pressure keeping Bankstown in their own half until a great through ball from Jake Trew saw Reaghan Travers make a left hand side run to then cross it to Ben Seyffer who hit it into the back of the net to give Southern a one nil lead. Southern Branch maintained this pressure until centre back, Tom Hazelton, took a great free kick from 35m out to sail over the Bankstown keeper to give Southern a 2 nil lead. This seemed to spur Bankstown Association on and they then managed to create some opportunities at Southern Branch?s end with only great scrambling from the keeper, Lucas Grima and centre back James Beckman keeping Bankstown scoreless at half time.
After the break Southern come out determined to get a couple more goals and with some end to end running the game remained even for most of the second half until some great play up front from Ben Seyffer who gave Jayden Grebert a one on one opportunity with the Bankstown keeper who made no mistake and placed it nicely into the corner to finish the game with a 3 nil win to Southern Branch.
