Grade 13
Camden Tigers suffered their first defeat for the season when they went down 1-0 to Southern NSW. The first half saw Camden dominate field position but they were continually frustrated by a determined and hardworking Southern defence which saw both sides go to the break with the game scoreless. Camden looked to continue their field dominance from the opening whistle of the second half but it was Southern who looked to knock the ball around in an attempt to open up the Camden defence. As the second half rolled on, both sides created chances but the tight defence and excellent keeping from Camden’s Clarkson and Southern’s Strahan appeared to have the game heading for a scoreless draw. Camden had a chance in the 54th minute when Khit Minh found himself one-on-one with the keeper but some brave work by Strahan again frustrated the big Camden striker. Another raid by Southern and a wide ball to C.MacQueen in the 59th minute proved to be the decisive moment. MacQueen received the ball about 25 metres out from the Camden goal, and with a super strike, the ball crashed into the left hand post and past Clarkson’s outstretched hand to give Southern an amazing 1 – 0 result.

The second half opened well for the Tigers with a goal to Samuel Hall in the 42nd minute. A long range strike from 30 metres that gave the Southern keeper no chance saw the Tigers jump to a 2 – 0 lead. They created the chances but were unable to find that vital goal. In the twenty-ninth minute, against the run of play, B. Vamba doubled Southern’s lead when he pounced on a Tigers defensive error to beat a diving Walsh in goal for the Tigers. Both teams lifted again for the second half and in the 55th minute, Camden were rewarded for their efforts with a strike from Jordan Agius which brought the game to life. Camden Tigers produced a very strong 5-0 victory over Southern NSW. The Tigers good form continued when they jumped to an early 2 – 0 lead through goals to Ben Roberts in the second minute and Taylor McDonald in the fourth minute. To their credit, Southern continued to battle on and make Camden work hard for the remainder of the first half. Despite creating chances, Camden were unable to extend their lead and went to the break 2 up. The goals came quickly again in the second half with Michael Puntillo making it 3 – 0 in the 39th minute.
