The overall goal is to provide children and young adults with special needs an opportunity to participate in sport in an environment that is both accepting of their limitations and challenging to their abilities.
Nepean Soccer Dragons provides participants with skills to keep fit within an environment where they feel comfortable and accepted.
Furthermore it provides a social group for the families of players with special needs and encourages and educates fair play, sportsmanship and above all fun.
The Nepean Soccer Dragons has fostered an acceptance of special needs within the community and educated coaches and other players in the needs of players with special needs.
Nepean Soccer Dragons has been a successful initiative employed by NDSFA and has been a pioneer in special needs football programs across NSW.
Nepean Soccer Dragons President Sharon Slender is buoyed by the success of the initiative and is looking forward to another successful season in 2012.
?Over the past five years the Nepean Soccer Dragons has become an important part of the Nepean Districts Soccer Football Association?s engagement efforts in providing football to everyone across the community.
?This program provides an outlet for both children and young adults to have a kick and have some fun in a comfortable, safe and friendly environment.
?We?re proud to have provided so many individuals with an opportunity to play football and look forward to providing many more opportunities to children and young adults with special needs within the community.?
