Nepean Soccer Dragons leading the way

An initiative started in 2007 by Nepean District Soccer Football Association; the Nepean Soccer Dragons have grown to become one of the largest Football4all programs in NSW.
Staff of the Nepean District Soccer Football Association along with Nepean Soccer Dragons management committee noticed there was a lack of sporting opportunities for children with special needs and disabilities. They found that children either didn’t feel comfortable in a mainstream team, or their special needs prevented them from being able to join in.
The program was established to provide an opportunity for children and young people with special needs to play football in a non-stressful environment. The Dragons have adjusted their program for players who cannot participate in a mainstream team because they have a physical disability, intellectual disability, autism or language delay.
Club President, Sharon Slender, has bright hopes for the future of the club. The club has experienced continued growth since being established now boasting over 40 registered players. The Dragons will continue to build their program through their continued focus on increasing participation numbers and widening the age groups
Each Saturday throughout the football season the Nepean Soccer Dragons meet giving participants the opportunity to learn new skills and the chance to be a part of a team.
Nepean Soccer Dragons can be found at Jamison Park, Penrith.
